First, a small clarification: you may know us as ""Berbers,"" but Amazigh is the name we use for ourselves. The Amazigh are Indigenous people of North Africa, including Morocco, with a language and culture that have been passed from generation to generation, largely through oral tradition.
And then there is Tifinagh, our ancestral alphabet.
During this workshop, we go beyond simply looking at the letters. You will discover a little of the story behind the Amazigh language, practice writing Tifinagh on wooden boards using traditional ink and a bamboo pen, and finally write your own name on a personalized card to take home.
This workshop is a unique experience because you will:
✔️ Go beyond the word ""Berber"" and understand why Amazigh is the name we use for our people and culture
✔️ Discover the world behind Tifinagh — not only its letters, but the language, stories and rich Indigenous culture they belong to
✔️ Step back in time and experience ancestral writing methods that are rarely used today
✔️ Enjoy a slow and creative moment while learning something completely new
✔️ Create your own personalized souvenir card by writing your name in Tifinagh
